As if the contents were not narcotic enough, the ultraluxe printing techniques used for the notoriously talented Cat Marnell's memoir are a dizzying HOW TO in Custom Commercial Book Printing .

This February, the downtown legend of our time released her long-awaited memoir How To Murder Your Life . The volume instantly injected itself into the canon of transgressive literature and rose through the NY Times Nonfiction Bestsellers list . We've been nursing our obsession ever since--so much so, we even imported the UK edition to feast our eyes on.

Each edition is a hardcover spectacle to behold! For the American version, the star opted for a shocking, spirited design + layout by Sean Freeman , sparing nothing when it came to the specialty printing techniques necessary to bring the hardback to life. It appears they selected a Premium Paper in fluorescent white with a Pearlized Varnish for the Book Jacket. The title stands out with a Sculptured Emboss . Inspired by the author's penchant for smeared makeup, the lettering is registered with Full Color and finished with a UV Spot Gloss treatment (that would be the high-shine printing equivalent to the perfect lip gloss). Further dimension is added with metallic eye shadow tromp-l'oeil rendered in Gold Foil Stamping . The author's name hovers above in raised ink Silver Foil lettering . Even before you've read it, you feel like you've just freebased pure adrenaline & Pantone Ink .

Across the Atlantic, the design team Two Associates opted for a more subdued--though equally resonant--dust jacket printing & design. Evoking a perfect union between Courtney Love & Holly Golightly, a full flood of what we suspect to be Offset Tiffany/Robin Egg Blue ink is laid over a luxuriously smooth eggshell-finish paper stock. A lesson in Typesetting , the textual and visual elements are presented in sleek Gold Foil Stamping , with Marnell's face rendered in Halftone , pop-art dots, her feline expression side-eyeing the title to her right.

In short: the likes of a partnership between Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele & Warhol's Ghost could not have come up with more astounding editorial work.
